Real Madrid has won the Spanish title for a record 33 times and they still set their sight on the Champion League trophy this season to record an impressive double.

Los Blancos where named champions following a 2-0 win over Malaga at La Rosaleda on Sunday.

Goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema ensured that Real Madrid maintained their three point advantage over arch rivals Barcelona who on the night  defeated Eibar 4-2 at Camp Nou  to take the fight to the final day of the season.

Real Madrid needed atleast a draw to lift the title as they trailed Barca on the famous La Liga head to head rule. Therefore, any slip on their part could have handed the title to the Catalans.

Madrid have won the competition for a record 33 times, nine more than their Catalan rivals, with neighbours Atletico lying in third on 10 victories.

The Champions League final comes up on June 3 at Cardiff where the team from the Spanish capital is hoping to become the first team of the modern era to retain the title, going against a formidable Juventus side.
