Contrary to reports in some quarters suggesting a burst between Sanchez and Wenger, the Chilean has through his Instagram page expressed solidarity and unity to his Arsenal teammates.
The striker was surprisingly excluded from the Arsenal starting eleven that lost 3-1 to Liverpool at the weekend. Sanchez was brought in at the start of second half and assisted Danny Welbeck’s goal.
The Gunner’s number 7 allegedly walked out of training during preparation for the game at Anfield, an insinuation Wenger debunked during his press conference on Monday ahead of their Champions League second leg match against Bayern Munich.
The player has 20 goals to his name this season so far with 17 of those in the Premier League.
His Arsenal captain, Per Mertesacker during the Monday press conference asserted that football is a team sport and therefore emphasis should be on the team and not a singer player.
The German said: “He (Wenger) has got a lot of options now. He has got 25 options now so it’s very difficult for him to decide who is playing.
“It’s about chances and taking chances. It’s not about individual players. It’s not going to be about one single player”.
