The Red Devils may need to search somewhere else for a full-back after the Portugal star turned down a move to the Premier League
Nelson Semedo is “completely focused” on Benfica in spite of being connected with a move to the Premier League with Manchester United.
The full-back has been ticked as the ‘new Dani Alves’ by some in the wake of breaking into the Benfica first-team last season and solidifying his place this term.
Semedo has been a regular for Rui Vitoria’s side in the Primeira Liga this term, helping them open up a four-point lead over adversaries Porto after 15 matches
His standout performances have prompted a likely bid from Manchester United in January, yet Semedo is apparently upbeat to stay put at the Estadio da Luz.
“I’m completely focused on Benfica and I’m hoping to continue here for many years to come.”
Also, United have already been vigorously connected with Semedo’s teammate Victor Lindelof to increase their central defense options, and the 22-year-old did not play in the Taca de liga win match over Pacos de Ferreira on Thursday.
Manager Rui Vitoria rejected that was as a result of United’s interest in the player and expressed certainty he is also dedicated to Benfica.
